AI is already picking winners in your market.
These are findings from actual engine runs — 100+ live AI answers per audit, stored raw with UTC timestamps. Not projections, not testimonials: what the machines actually said.
The #1 Google plumber that AI barely recommends.
We audited one of LA's best-known plumbing brands — the company that ranks #1 in classic Google results for its own market. Its BizWhiz Visibility Score: 28.5/100. Across 72 live answers, the chat AIs handed the recommendations to competitors with stronger review-site presence, while our Google-layer sampling still showed the brand on top. Great SEO and AI visibility are not the same asset — this brand owns one and is losing the other, and would never know without measuring both.
Four answers, zero mentions — and three rivals named on repeat.
A single free preliminary scan (the same one on this site) asked the AIs who to call for HVAC in Mesa. The scanned business: absent from every answer. Named instead, again and again: One Hour Air, George Brazil, Chas Roberts. One AI's verbatim consensus pick — "the consensus for the best all-around HVAC company in Mesa, AZ is typically Chas Roberts." When AI converges on a "consensus," everyone outside it splits what's left.
Statewide, fintechs own the question. Individual pros are invisible.
We ran the full battery on the questions borrowers ask about HELOCs in California. The answers route overwhelmingly to national fintech brands — Figure, Aven, Rocket — while individual loan officers and local brokerages scored 27.9/100 with near-zero share of voice. The gap is the opportunity: the AIs cite reachable sources (review profiles, NMLS data, comparison sites), and almost no local pro is working them yet.
We run this on ourselves: a brand-new site, tracked weekly, from zero.
Our Citation Lab tracks a brand-new site we own across 90 live answers every Monday. Week-one baseline: cited in 0 of 90 — a true zero, on the record. Every fix from our playbook gets applied one lever at a time and measured against that baseline, misses included. When we publish the time-to-first-citation numbers, they'll be ours, earned in public.
Business identities partially withheld where we scanned without engagement. All excerpts verbatim from stored model outputs; AI answers vary by time and phrasing — these are timestamped samples, not permanent rankings.
